Goodbye 2020
As I prepare to welcome 2021 and STOP to remember 2020, I realize that for me it was a year of loss, anxiety, reckoning, and resilience. I often tell my husband it’s like God sat and listened to everyone make plans and resolutions for the New Year and was like “ Okay now let me show you my plan…Let’s not forget, I’m in control here.” It’s been quite humbling, to say the least.
Personally, I’ve had some great accomplishments this year, and I thank God for that. Unfortunately though like many others I’ve also had my share of trials and tribulations. Many of which I’m still working through today in some ways. Believe it or not, at one point I was so depressed that I could’t even lift myself up to even sew. And for me that’s a pretty dark place because sewing has always been like therapy for me.
I’m happy to say though that with prayer, meditation, and the support of my family I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. Maybe in another blog post I’ll feel like sharing my testimony on the various things that I’ve experienced, as well as some of the tools I’ve used to cope like the Calm App. For now though let’s get into this outfit…
Of course I purchased this beautiful Premium Teal Stretch Ponte Knit from none other than Mood Fabrics. I reeeallly love the color. lt’s also very soft and has just the right amount of stretch and thickness. I also love the fact that it doesn’t fray. I have a thing for unfinished edges on non fraying fabric. I think it adds flair to certain garments like this. The pattern is Vogue Pattern #V1719 which looks pretty intimidating to work with but it’s actually not so bad once you get past all the pockets.
There’s a total of 4 pockets, each with their own personal zipper. These were not difficult to make, just a little tedious because there’s so many. Once they’re done the rest of the outfit is like a walk in the park…it was for me at least. The zippers all came from my local Hobby Lobby store by the way.
I’m embarrassed to say that it took me over a month to finish this jumpsuit. As mentioned before I lost my mojo for a little while but I’m glad to now be getting back into the swing of things. This outfit turned out way better than I imagined. It’s comfortable, chic and versatile. I opted for shorter sleeves as I wanted to be able to rock it in any season. I also love the fact that I can spice it up in colder months with any type of long sleeve shirt underneath…(can’t wait to try stripes!)
It’s important to note that instead of making the buckled belt included with the pattern, I opted for a sash like belt. I think it added an extra layer of flair. Also I left the edges unfinished just like I like ‘em. 😉
Leave a comment and let me know what ya think! Happy New Year! 🎉🥂
